Recently I've been purchasing items containing xylitol since I like the mouth health benefits associated with them and I'm not real crazy about some of the side effects found in other sugar-free sweeteners being used in most other sugar-free products. Yes, for me xylitol does have a bit of an "odd" residual taste in most of the candies and mints I've tried to date, especially when it comes to the "fruit" flavors which is why I choose Wintergreen for my first Ice Chips purchase.
I give Wintergreen Ice Chips a 5 out of 5 on the rating scale. I barely notice the residual xylitol taste with these and I love wintergreen so to finally have a sugar-free option with xylitol was a plus-plus for me.
I like that the candy-mints come in a variety of odd shapes and sizes and they have a good "mouth feel" to them. I wish they were not so pricy but then the tin has 50g instead of 30g like the others have, so you do get more and then if you are a crafter like myself you recycle the tin so it's a extra win-win. I have to say I do prefer the Ice Chips over the other options, which are not bad for the price but I think the Ice Chips are a step up in flavor and texture. I like these so much I might even give one of their fruitier flavors a try the next time I order.
This review is specific to Sugar Free Candy, Wintergreen
Ice Chips are absolutely my family's favorite mints and candy. It's great to have a sugar free, healthier option that is also gluten free. We like to keep them in the car as a fun treat. The six flavors we have tried are delicious! I'm sure you and all your friends will like them too.
I got the Coffee & Cream and the Egg Nog. I really liked the coffee but the Egg Nog had too much of a nutmeg aftertaste for my liking. I should mention I don't like nutmeg in my eggnog so there's that. That is why I still gave it a 5 star instead of 4 and I am ordering more.
I've been on a low carb diet for about two years to control Type 2 diabetes. I had some trouble with unexplained bumps in my glucose readings then I discovered that Halls Sugar Free Cough Drops contained 4.5 grams of carbs EACH! I was sucking 10 or more a day during hay fever season. These Ice Chips are a perfect (and better tasting) substitute for Halls. I use the Menthol Eucalyptus regularly but have tried all the flavors and am 100% satisfied with each.
