Below are a few of the vitamins, minerals and other nutrients in LUNA™.
Protein is a critical part of your daily diet as it aids in the growth
and development of all body tissue. For example, protein is critical for muscle growth and
repair. Protein is also needed for the formation of hormones that control many body functions.
LUNA™ contains 10 grams of soy protein.
Soy Protein is a remarkable food: it is a source of protein for general
nutrition, and includes natural isoflavones. Some authorities have claimed that soy-rich
diets help maintain a healthy heart and promote strong bones and breast health. Other
potential benefits include maintenance of good health during menopause.
Calcium is essential for healthy bones and teeth, and for the prevention
of osteoporosis. Adequate calcium also reduces the severity of muscle cramping, including
menstrual cramping. One LUNA™ bar contains the equivalent of a 10-ounce glass of milk,
1 cup of yogurt or 2-oz. of cheese.
B-Vitamins support proper nerve and brain function, and protein and
fat metabolism. B-vitamins are also involved in the conversion of carbohydrates into energy.
Folic Acid is a B-vitamin which, according to health experts, contributes
to a healthy heart. Folic acid is also critical for women of child-bearing age in order to
have healthy babies. Each LUNA™ Bar contains 100% of the RDI for folic acid.
Iron is vital to help prevent anemia, which can cause fatigue and lethargy.
It is also needed to regulate body temperature and metabolism.
Antioxidants such as Vitamins C and E, beta-carotene (a source of Vitamin A),
selenium and decaffeinated green tea protect against free radicals. Antioxidants also contribute
to a healthy heart, bones, joints and immune system.
